All the talk of the F1 and seeing the engine compartment open reminded me of an EVO article.

Wasn’t it Chapman who used to say that any single part should [ideally] perform two functions simultaneously – at least?

Ties in with that Car & Driver article about the F1 from a design and execution standpoint, with interviews with owners, techs, and employees. O ne of the McLaren techs had a German owner who had a mystery warning light every day for his morning and evening commute. Turns out the warning light was indicating the engine cover was open, and would only happen between like 180-195mph.
